String ensemble gets ready for first public performance

Introducing our new violin and piano teacher

The John Colet Strings Ensemble was formed at the beginning of Term 1 and meets for an hour every Monday after school under the expert guidance of Ms Rosemerry Davidson.  The group is working towards its first “public” performance at Assembly early in Term 2.

Rosemerry Davidson,  BMus, Post-Grad Cert, LMusA, AMusA, Perf Cert TCL, began learning violin and piano from a young age, both traditional and Suzuki methods, followed by the examination systems. At 15 she was accepted into the Conservatorium High School, studying violin and viola with Alex Todicescu, and piano with Gerard Willems. She received her AMEB Diplomas in both piano and viola. She continued on to do her Bachelor of Music on viola. Last year she completed a Post-Graduate Certificate at ANU in Performance. She has enjoyed touring Australia and worldwide playing electric and classic violin and viola for countless corporate functions, sporting events and concerts for the last 12 years.
Rosy has extensive experience over the past 8 years teaching violin, viola and piano privately at Wenona School, Canberra Girls Grammar, Canberra Boys Grammar, John Colet and OLD - as well as many students at her home studio. She also conducted and tutored String programs at Canberra Grammar, Wenona, and currently at John Colet. She enjoys teaching a range of methods tailored to each student, maintaining a traditional method combined with CD listening, theory, AMEB as well as Suzuki and other repertoire. Above all, her focus is always to encourage, whilst bringing technique, musicality and enjoyment to her students learning experience!

Great weather for sailing

Our new Lasers are very easy to sail, perfect for novices and a lot of fun. They also happen to be a recognised racing class boat so are great for the more experienced to get into racing.
